Making a Cleaning Schedule

The Maids • May 24, 2013
Have you ever done a cleaning marathon? If you’ve ever done a one- or two-day full house clean, you know how challenging it can be. However, you can avoid the cleaning marathon by cleaning as you go.

The problem with cleaning as you go through the week is keeping track of what you’ve done and what you haven’t and not getting sidetracked by other tasks.

Having a cleaning schedule can change that, helping you stay ahead of the work and also stay focused on tasks. If you can get cleaning services to come a few times a month to do a deep clean, then this schedule is all you’ll need to keep your house clean!

1. Make a list of chores. What things need to be done every week? How do you want to break it down? Grab a pen and a paper and write down every chore you’d like to see done in a week. This list might include vacuuming, washing down the sink and counters, cleaning the bathroom, and washing clothes. Whatever you want to keep clean in your house, put it on the list!

2. Break up the tasks throughout the week. Keeping your schedule in mind, start assigning tasks to different days of the week. For instance, if you know you’re going to be home all day on Fridays, that might be a good day to do laundry. If you’re only goint to have a few minutes to spare on Tuesday, maybe that would be a good day just to wipe down sinks and counters.

3. Follow the schedule. This might be harder than you think. It’s easy to get distracted by other tasks. For instance, you might be doing your vacuuming and get distracted by the windows being dirty!

When you come across something else you realize you would like to clean, if it’s not urgent, write it on a list and add it into your schedule. This way, you’ll stay on task and still get everything done you want to complete!
