Aromatherapy: Uses and Benefits

Aromatherapy is an effective way of relaxation. It is a perfect treatment that helps relieve stress. The use of essential oils extracted from plants is at the heart of this therapy. It is believed that the scent in the oils stimulates the nerves in the nose that send signal to our brain which affect our memory and emotion.

Our home is a great and inexpensive place where we can truly relax. Using aromatherapy at home gives great health benefits. There can be two ways to use aromatherapy at home.

1. Inhaling Agents

The diffusing effect of aromatherapy helps sets home fragrance. It works with combining the essential oils with water or having it heated. Citrus scent for examples reduces stress level. A dry evaporation is another way to diffuse scent. One has to wet a piece of cotton by a few drops of essential oil. Trying a steam procedure helps unclog one's congested nose. Having an essential oil blended with warm and placing your face atop the water with a towel covering your head is a natural way to relieve your caused by sinus or allergy agitations. Eucalyptus and lemon oils are great anti-inflammatory agents. Making a bottle spray by mixing water with a choice of essential oil can be a practical way to deodorize your surroundings. It neutralizes unpleasant odors around the house.

2. Topical Application

Essential oils can be dropped into a bathwater. Lavender has a soothing effect. It helps one sleep after a warm bath. Oils can be applied to one's body for a great massage. The body itself serves as a diffuser as it warms the essential oil. It releases the fragrance. The oils can likewise be combined with lotion. It is one good way to spread the oil scent which can be inhaled, leaving calming and soothing effect.

Practicing aromatherapy at home is one easy step to health and wellness.
